Overview: This project consisted of the demolition of classroom buildings, the construction of new two-story classrooms and the roof renovations of several other buildings that included roof removals and replacements. The building in the photograph is the 50-year-old cafeteria.  The original metal roof was in poor shape and the building was in need of added thermal insulation to lower energy consumption. This portion of the work was unusually difficult, requiring proprietary equipment to roll-form and curve the panels onsite and – more importantly – installation experience.

Installation: The existing metal roofing was removed to the wood deck. Five inches of Polyisocyanurate insulation, to attain an R-30 rating, was attached and a self-adhering underlayment protected the structure until the metal roofing could be installed. Related metal trim was fabricated in our sheet metal shop and installed. Seventy foot standing seam panels were roll formed on-site and curved to match the building’s radius. The panels were installed on clips in two sections and double-seamed mechanically. The only seam was on the back side and is not visible.
